14th April Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion

Dear Friends,

Today we enter the journey of walking with Jesus and the highs (cheering and waving of palms) and lows; false accusations, sentence and crucifixion of the Lord. Did it make him bitter? (‘Father forgive them for they know not what they do’). Many people pay a considerable sum of money to go on pilgrimage to the shrines and the Holy land, where you can walk the way of the cross. From experience I can assure you, you can be more composed and prayerful in your own home or Church than jostling with passers-by in Jerusalem, to say nothing of the noise, the distractions and the security.

This week is called Holy Week for a good reason. Let us walk with Jesus every day in our own way. If it helps take on the persona of one of the biblical characters of which there is an abundant choice. In the words of the hymn:

“Walk with me, oh my Lord,

Through the darkest night and brightest day.

Be at my side, Oh Lord,

Hold my hand and guide me on my way.”

Please take a timetable for Holy Week on the green form
