28th October, Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Dear Friends,

Bartimaeus was a real person that called on Jesus to help him. He was blind but it was not always so. When Jesus asked him what do you want from him? He answered “Master that I may see again.”   For whatever reason he had lost his sight, but was well aware what a tragedy that was because he could see before.  What a strong metaphor this is for us as individuals, but also as a community. One of the very evident changes in the society and world we now occupy is an evident lack of respect in word and deed by leaders, thus giving permission by proxy to anybody to speak ill of another because of race, creed or values. Where is decency? Oh, what blindness!

Kerala Appeal. Thank you for your support, it now exceeds £1000. Any orange envelops out there please?

After plucking up the courage, Sid proposed to Jane and immediately reminded her: “You know Jane, I’ve been asked to marry dozens of times.”  Astonished, Jane replied: “By whom?”  “My parents” he replied

Thank you & God Bless you all,

Fr John

Calling all who are not afraid of IT:

An opportunity has presented itself for people of any age to operate the church screens during the 6pm Mass on Saturday and 10.30am Mass on Sundays. Develop an additional skill for free; training and support will be given. Ask what is involved etc. We operate a rota system that is flexible so that nobody feels it is a burden. Call the office or email Helen at the office.
