Parish Child and Vulnerable Persons Safeguarding

Safeguarding procedures are administered and monitored by the Diocesan Safeguarding Office (previously known as the Diocesan Child Protection Office).  All volunteers in contact with young people and vulnerable persons through parish based groups must have a CRB clearance.  Volunteers working with sacramental programmes, crèche, children’s liturgy, all ministers of the Eucharist (including those who go to the hospital) and any other relevant groups are included in this requirement.  From October 2009 CRB clearance will be replaced by a vetting and barring system run by the Independent Safeguarding Authority.  Compliance with this will be a legal requirement.
